Elastic license management
Opsflw Connect operates the Elastic Stack under a commercial subscription to unlock advanced security and observability features. Proper license management keeps the cluster compliant and avoids service interruptions.
License model
- The deployment uses the Elastic Enterprise license tier to access machine learning jobs, Alerting, and Spaces.
- Usage is measured in resource-metric units (RMUs) across data nodes, ingest capacity, and machine learning workloads.
- License files are stored securely in the Opsflw secrets manager and rotated before expiration.
Renewal process
- Track license expiration dates in the central renewal calendar at least 90 days out.
- Request updated license files from Elastic with projected growth estimates.
- Validate the new license in staging using
elastic-license install --scope stagingand monitor for warnings. - Schedule production installation during a maintenance window and confirm the cluster reports the renewed expiration.
Document the renewal in the change log and attach the confirmation email for audit readiness.
Compliance monitoring
- Enable license usage alerts in Kibana to notify the platform team when consumption approaches 80% of the limit.
- Review monthly RMU reports to ensure tenant workloads align with contracted capacity.
- Coordinate with finance and procurement during quarterly business reviews to adjust entitlements proactively.
Rely on the Opsflw Connect profiles to enforce consistent access controls after each license update.
